Wentz Research Project Awards for 2012-2013

Oklahoma State University selected 38 undergraduate students for the prestigious Wentz Research Project scholarship of $4,500 to help them prepare for graduate study. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Lou Wentz Foundation providing scholarships for student development at OSU.   Three of the recipients are chemical engineering majors, and ten total are from engineering.  Other majors include Ag Economics, Animal Science, Biology, Botany, Business, Chemistry, Mathematics, Natural Resource Ecology, Psychology, and Zoology revealing the diversity of research and student development at OSU.

Dr. Heather Fahlenkamp Receives NSF CAREER Award

fahlenkamp The CAREER Award is a prestigious recognition from the National Science Foundation that provides research funding for early career faculty members.  This year assistant professor Dr. Heather Fahlenkamp is one of the recipients.  The award  provides $400,000 over a 5-year period to support her research on “An Advanced 3D Tissue Model for the Detection and Study of an Allergic Inflammatory Response”.

 Heather worked for three years in an industrial R&D setting before starting her faculty career at OSU, and has taught the bio-chemical processing, reaction kinetics, mathematical modeling, and senior seminar courses.  She has also led the development of bio-experiments in the unit operations lab, and was the faculty advisor to the chemical reaction powered car teams this year.

Johannes Selected as Top CEAT Faculty Member by OSU Greek Community

AJThe Panhellenic Council and Interfraternity Council recognize A H Johannes as the Outstanding Faculty Member from the college of CEAT, April 4, 2012.  The award is given to one faculty member from each of the undergraduate colleges represented at OSU and is nominated through students of the Greek community.  The award is an opportunity for OSU's Greek Community to recognize outstanding faculty members who continue to make a difference in the lives of their students and for the students to show appreciation for the faculty efforts.

This is the second time that AJ was so chosen.  So, once again, congratulations AJ.
