Gary Foutch Becomes AIChE Fellow

The
School is very pleased to relay this 2008 news: The American
Institute of Chemical Engineers selected Dr. Gary L. Foutch,
Regents Professor of Chemical Engineering, as an AIChE Fellow.
To attain the grade of Fellow, one has to have been practicing
chemical engineering for at least 25 years and have demonstrated
significant contribution to the profession. No more than 5% of
the professional members of AIChE can have the grade of Fellow. |

Renee Hale wins 2008 Goldwater Scholarship |

Congratulations
to Renee Hale, chemical
engineering sophomore who will
be a Goldwater Scholar for the
2008-2009 school year. The
scholarships are awarded by the
Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
and Excellence in Education
Foundation, to encourage
outstanding students to pursue
careers in mathematics, the
natural sciences, and
engineering. This year $7,500
scholarships were awarded to 321
of the 1,035 applicants.
Each 4-year college or
university is permitted to
nominate up to four students,
making those who were selected
as a Goldwater Scholar part of a
prestigious community. |

Aleisha McCabe Selected for 2008 Dean's

Each
year the Dean’s Office selects one graduating senior from each
of the three divisions (architecture, technology, and
engineering) to receive the Dean’s Award as the outstanding
senior for that division. Criteria include a balance of
academic performance, leadership, and citizenship. This
year they selected ChE’s Aleisha McCabe as the outstanding
engineering graduate. |
