Another AIChE National Undergraduate Scholar at OSU
OSU ChE senior Kimberly
Anne Viscosi received an AIChE National Undergraduate Scholarship of
$1000 for the 2005-6 academic year. The award is based on both
academic and leadership performance, and there is only about one for
every 10 US schools with ChE programs.
If all student applicants had
the same credentials, then a school might expect to get one every 10
years on average. However, this is the seventh OSU ChE student
winner in the past 10 years, indicating a history of exceptional OSU
students at the national level.
Kim is in the
biomedical/chemical option of Chemical Engineering; and now holds
the position as President of the AIChE Student Chapter, after
serving in many other officer positions. As a freshman, she created
the award-winning OSU AIChE Student Chapter web site. As President
her team of officers will be hosting the 2006 regional student
conference.
Kim is a native of Andover,
Kansas, and has worked in summer intern positions for ConocoPhillips
in Alaska and Texas. She worked on chemical plant safety and fuel
cell projects as an undergraduate researcher with faculty members at
OSU. She is a member of the CEAT Student Council, and as a
ConocoPhillips Spirit Scholar has participated in numerous
enrichment activities, including a two-week trip to Japan this
summer.
Her
plans are to start an industrial career upon graduation this May.
