News from Chemical Engineering
OSU offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities for students, ranging from athletic to political to professional. Crew is a club sport at OSU, which is run by the students - an athletic event that also provides leadership opportunities. The team practices at 6:00 every morning at Lake Carl Blackwell, and competes every fall and spring against other NCAA varsity programs and clubs in the region. OSU medals this fall included 1st in Austin, TX and 2nd at the Marathon Rowing Championships in Natchitoches, LA. Imagine the contrast at 6:00 am
when the mists rise silently off the warm lake, and the water lies still in calm
air, and most of the world is curled-up warm in a nest; but the team of
volunteer athletes are straining at oar, concentrating on timing and technique,
and racing through the invisible surface.
