News from Chemical Engineering

Congratulations to Cassie Mitchell and Ashleigh Hildebrand who will be Goldwater Scholars for the 2003-2004 school year. Both are ChE undergraduates at OSU. These highly competitive, national scholarships are awarded by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation, created by public law to encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering. Up to 300, $7,500 scholarships are awarded per year, and this year there were over 1000 applicants. Ashleigh and Cassie made the list!

 Qualifying students must be undergraduate sophomore and junior level in Mathematics, Science, or Engineering programs. Selection criteria include past and future academic plans and career goals as evidenced by grades, participation in extra curricular activities, competency in a student essay about a significant issue or problem in his or her field of study of interest, and letters of testimony by faculty.
