2009 R.N. Maddox Design
Award Winners
In 1986, Professor Robert N.
Maddox established an endowment
to recognize students who
excelled in the capstone
chemical engineering design
courses. The recipients
are selected by the course
instructors who assess the
students’ “Demonstrated
Proficiency in the Conceptual
Design and Economic Evaluation
of Chemical Processes” over the
two-course sequence in process
economics and plant design.
The 2009 winners are:
Josh
Hamit, 1st Place was
awarded $300.00. Josh will
start as in the Business
Improvement department of
ConocoPhillips, initially in a
temporary assignment in Ponca
City, OK, then he will transfer
to their Houston, TX
headquarters. He graduates
with a BS in ChE and a minor in
History. 
Kristin Wallace, 2nd
Place, received $200.00.
Kristin graduated with a general
honors degree in ChE and a
business minor. She
accepted employment with
Chesapeake, starting as a field
engineer in Cleburne, TX (near
Ft. Worth).

Libby McKaig, 3rd
Place, received a $100.00 award.
Libby will graduate in the ChE
biomedical option.
