Billy Collins Receives 2009-2010
Othmer Scholarship
The American Institute of
Chemical Engineers (AIChE) chose
Billy Collins (OSU Senior in
Chemical Engineering) to receive
a Donald F. and Mildred Topp
Othmer National Scholarship
Award. Each year, fifteen
students from various schools in
the nation are selected for this
award. Selection is based
on a combination of academic
performance, student leadership,
and other activities that reveal
a commitment to using chemical
engineering to have a positive
impact on society. He will
receive this award at the 2009
Annual AIChE Student Conference.

Billy is from Plano, TX. His
leadership activities include:
AIChE Student Chapter President,
Student Foundation Chairman,
CEAT Student Council Executive
Officer (Freshman Council
Coordinator). The photo
shows him at work last summer in
his internship with
ConocoPhillips in Alaska.
Billy enjoys computers,
racquetball, kayaking, and
working out at the Colvin
Student Center. For his
future he is considering either
attending law school for
intellectual property law, or
working for a major energy
company as a production and
development engineer.
